What a Night!

12/3/2022

SAE's return to Cal State Fullerton made a HUGE step forward at a special event held at the Gollaher Alumni House.
Over 100 Brothers, Family and Friends celebrated a potential return to the campus by as early as Fall 2023. Over $10k was raised to help fund the effort.
The event, hosted by Pete Mitchell and CSUF was an opportunity for the college staff to reaquaint themselves with our long heritage and history with the university.
Several of our oldest brothers, including founding fathers attended.
Here are just a few pics from the event...

Alumnus Terry M. Giles — lawyer, business leader, entrepreneur, author and longtime supporter of Cal State Fullerton — has pledged a $1 million gift to benefit the Center for Leadership through his Giles O’Malley Foundation. “With his generous support and visionary leadership, Terry is expanding the high-impact opportunities we aim to equitably provide all students at our top ten-ranked business school,” said President Fram Virjee. “The impact of this investment will eternally reverberate across the local business community and beyond, as it powers the development of diverse leaders needed for the future Orange County.” Giles ’70 (B.A. speech communication), owner and president of Houston-based Giles Enterprises, is perhaps best known for his career as a trial lawyer, defending such high-profile clients as Richard Pryor, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Estate and the victims of the California Catholic predator priest cases.

As the Founder and Managing Partner at Springboard Ventures, Peter has invested and supported technology startups. Peter avidly continues to support top California-based and national corporations in political and public affairs across all sectors. For almost twelve years, Mitchell served as the Senior Political Analyst and Director of the California Real Estate Political Action Committee (CREPAC) for the California Association of REALTORS® (CAR), which has a membership of over 100,000 members. During his tenure, ending in 2001, Mitchell was responsible for tripling CAR’s annual political fund to approximately $4 million annually. In 2002, Mitchell formed P.M. Consulting, Inc., a full-service political/public affairs firm specializing in independent expenditures, comprehensive non-partisan election analysis (covering all California state and federal legislative races, all statewide races and key local elections), fundraising, political campaign management, polling, research, advocacy and strategic consulting/planning. Due to his many years managing and leading various PACs and his immersion in California’s politics, he personally helped elect hundreds of federal, state and local officials. Mitchell has well established, and strong, political relationships with a tremendous number of elected and appointed officials throughout California. Mitchell, a native Californian and son of Greek immigrants, was born in the San Fernando Valley and raised in Orange County.

Teri M. Giles

10-25-2021

Terry M. Giles, a recipient of the Horatio Alger Award winner, grew up in a loving, but impoverished family in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on July 3, 1948, Giles attended 21 schools in a 10-year period, settling in long enough to earn a debate scholarship to the University of California at Fullerton, later earning his law degree from Pepperdine University. He also served with the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1976 during the back half of the Vietnam conflict. Giles went on to establish or acquire 35 businesses, including a large West Coast criminal law firm, Landmark Education and Giles Enterprises, now a holding company for his family’s involvement in everything from banking to computers to travel. Some of his past business associations have ranged from food and entertainment, intellectual property and property development as well as manufacturing. Giles has always managed to attract high-powered clients, especially during his tenure in law, of which he is now retired. Some of those clients have included Richard Pryor, Kenneth Lay, J. Howard, Marshall III and Martin Luther King Jr.’s remaining children during a much-noted familial dispute regarding the corporation set up to control Dr. King’s intellectual property at the King Center. Debate has always been the forefront of Giles’ success. He credits Cal State Fullerton’s debate team for helping to set him on the road to success. Fullerton debaters have felt his presence through the years, and he works with young debaters to support them as they continue their collegiate and business careers. Giles lives with his wife, Kalli O'Malley, in Houston, but owns a home in Puerto Vallarta and a French chateau that is well over 1,000 years old. He actively supports a wide range of charities and non-profits.
